Vida Nova Retreat is a beautifully decorated, contemporary, boutique hotel in Hout Bay. Set among well-tended gardens on our privately fenced two acres of ground, it is located on the back slope of Table Mountain. Surrounded by the most iconic peaks in the Cape Fold Belt, we truly offer an opportunity to escape from the hustle of the city, while being located only a short drive from all of the city bowl’s offerings.

Vida Nova Retreat boasts 20 spacious, comfortable, and tastefully furnished suites. Each suite has either a private balcony with a magnificent view of the mountain peaks in Hout Bay, or a patio opening onto the lush garden, pool, and entertainment area. Expect sumptuous rooms and delightful honeymoon suites. Each unit is ensuite and equipped with a fridge, tea and coffee-making facilities, a hairdryer, a Smart TV with Netflix, and built-in safes.

Cape Town and the Western Cape of South Africa is considered malaria free. However, it’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional before travelling, especially if you plan to visit other regions in South Africa.

Cell coverage and WiFi
The cell coverage in Hout Bay is generally reliable, but it’s important to note that coverage may vary depending on your service provider. Free WiFi is available at the hotel.

What to pack
Summer: We recommend packing comfortable clothing suitable for the season, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a swimsuit, comfortable walking shoes, and any personal items you may need. Don’t forget to bring a light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings.
Winter: Cape Town can get rather cold, so warmer clothes, scarfs, boots, and beanies are recommended.

Critters
While encounters with wildlife are rare, it’s possible to encounter small critters like insects or harmless reptiles. We advise guests to keep windows and doors closed in the evenings and to store food securely.

Do I need a visa to travel to South Africa?
There are 52 visa-exempt countries for South Africa, and visitors from these countries can enter for up to 90 days visa-free.

To enter South Africa through customs it is necessary to have a passport with at least 30 days remaining from the intended date of departure. Passports must have two blank pages for entry stamps.

Documents you need to travel to South Africa?
At a minimum, you will need a valid passport with at least six months validity beyond your intended departure date. Adults travelling with minors under the age of 18 must possess the child’s birth certificate, which shows the details of both parents. If the child is travelling with one parent, it is necessary to present a parental consent affidavit signed by the other parent.
