Our Hout Bay hotel and spa, Vida Nova Retreat, is one of the properties operated by Fire Island Conservation, a crusade that started with a tiny island in the Indian Ocean.
To “retreat” means to withdraw to a quiet or secluded place. This is exactly what Vida Nova Retreat aims to offer our guests. This luxury Hout Bay hotel is situated on the scenic southern slopes of Table Mountain, surrounded by panoramic mountain views. The hotel’s strategic location is only 20 minutes from Cape Town city centre, and 25 km from Cape Town International Airport. A prime spot for travellers looking for accommodation in Hout Bay.

Vida Nova Retreat is conveniently close to town and all the things to do in Hout Bay. This beautiful manor hotel is your secluded gateway to adventure, near attractions like Sandy Beach, Hout Bay harbour, wineries, Cape Town’s city bowl, Mount Sentinel, Chapman’s Peak Drive, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens and various hiking trails in Table Mountain National Park.
You’ll find freshly-caught seafood dishes at Mariner’s Wharf, the first harbour emporium in Africa. On weekends, you can enjoy the Hout Bay Harbour Market with stalls selling everything from delicious street food, to local crafts and curios. Being in close proximity to the city, you are a stone’s throw away from the airport, the V&A Waterfront, and the Hout Bay shops.
Talk to our manager on duty who can recommend operators and tours for you to book. This may include Table Mountain, Robben Island, wine-tasting tours, helicopter trips over the Peninsula, whale watching, game drives, white shark cage diving and many more activities.
Vida Nova Retreat Eco-hotel offers accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. Guests can access the bar, restaurant and spa and the property is perfectly located for local Hout Bay activities and access to the city centre.
Check-in is from 14h00 on the day of arrival. Check-out is no later than 10h00 on the day of departure. There is a 24-hour front desk service available for late arrivals. Guests can request a romantic welcome service at an additional cost. This may include rose petals, towel art (swans), and/or MCC.

Classic Mountain Facing & Private Patio x 1: Tasteful, refined, and spacious, with an extra-length king-size bed, and a contemporary private shower. The private patio offers a charming seating area, with beautiful views for you to soak in. Also included: a separate toilet cubicle, air-conditioning, writing desk, Wi-Fi, fridge, TV with Netflix. Deluxe Upstairs Mountain Facing Room x 1: A large, comfortable room with a lounge area, an extra-length king-size bed, and private roof top area with an outdoor hot tub. This private patio features beautiful mountain views. Also included: shower, a separate toilet cubicle, air-conditioning, writing desk, Wi-Fi, fridge, TV with Netflix (Room 18).
Deluxe Private Room with Outdoor Hot Tub x 1: A large, comfortable room with an extra-length king-size bed, and private outdoor hot tub with a seating area. The room features access to a private garden patio with stack doors that offers beautiful views of the gardens. Also included an enclosed bathroom, air-conditioning, writing desk, a lounge area, Wi-Fi, fridge and TV with Netflix. (Room 16).
Deluxe Vineyard Facing & Stack Doors x 1: A large, comfortable room with an extra-length king-size bed and a private outdoor patio with stack doors opening up to the hot tub. The room features access to a private seating area at the entrance to the room. Also included: enclosed bathroom, air-conditioning, writing desk, Wi-Fi, fridge, TV with Netflix. (Room 21).
Deluxe Family Room x 1: This premium room has all the features for a wonderful family break. With two separate bedrooms and a loft, an extra-length king-size bed, two single beds, and a bunk bed, it is ideal for a family unit of two adults and up to four children (ages 2-18). It also offers an enclosed patio, a private bathroom with a bath and shower, and an outdoor hot tub. Also included: a wood fire place, air-conditioning, writing table, Wi-Fi, fridge, TV with Netflix. Aside from our dedicated management, Vida Nova Retreat has a team of support staff, from friendly housekeepers, chefs and our qualified spa therapists, ensuring our guests are thoroughly taken care of. Our manager is on-site to handle any queries or concerns or to arrange excursions.

We avoid single-use plastic where possible and encourage guests to make use of our glass water bottles, to refill when needed.
Our bathroom amenities are meticulously sourced, offering a luxurious product that is biodegradable, ensuring we do not compromise the delicate ecosystem in which we live.
All rooms feature a desk, a flat-screen Smart TV, a private bathroom, with luxurious 300-thread count linen and luxury towels. while selected rooms will provide you with a balcony, mountain views and/or hot tub. Each room has a safety deposit box and a fridge.
Our rooms are equipped with coffee and tea facilities and room service can be organised via the front desk. There is an onsite restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, and an onsite spa.
The Green Orchid
Our refined dining restaurant provides a beautiful, tranquil environment to enjoy a meal. Our chefs use homegrown produce from our onsite gardens, wherever possible in the menus. Scrumptious breakfasts, including continental platters and hot breakfasts – from 8am to 10am. Tapas-style lunch from 12 noon, and an à la carte dinner menu from 6pm. The kitchen closes at 9pm. Open 7 days a week.

We are easily accessible by road, with only a 25km drive from Cape Town International Airport. Take a right off Hout Bay’s main road (M63) onto Disa River Road. You’ll see Vida Nova Retreat on the corner when you turn right onto Valley Road.
Please note that airport transfers can be booked in advance at an additional cost at the front desk, or by emailing info@vidanovaretreat.com.
Hout Bay has great local mobile network connectivity or roaming data reception. WiFi is available throughout the property. We have a generator on-site to provide the hotel with the necessary electricity during loadshedding. The noise from our top-of-the-range generator is minimal noise, to ensure our guests a peaceful, uninterrupted stay.
